The festive spirit is already being felt at El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The municipality is preparing to live its festivities in honour of the patron saint Santa María Magdalena, for which everything is ready. This year, the festive calendar, which will run from Sunday, July 19th to Saturday, August 1st, is full of music, tradition and outstanding novelties designed to promote the participation of neighbours and visitors.
For this edition, the Councillorship of Festivities and the Festeros 2026, l’Aspardenyà, have opted to reinforce the most popular days. As one of the main novelties, Thursday, July 23rd, the day of San Roque, will officially become the Day of the Peñas. The day will start with a parade animated by a brass band and the traditional meal on La Pau and Mayor streets, but the main course will come in the afternoon with the debut of the fun Crazy Cars race, a contest that will reward the creativity and speed of the vehicles of their own manufacture.
Another of the great novelties of the programme will arrive on Saturday, August 1st with the Day of the Quintadas. After the concentration on La Pau street, the quintadas will fill the town with colour with a crowded parade to the rhythm of La Trocamba. They will parade in chronological order, from youngest to eldest, and the ones who are on anniversary will be located at the end of the parade.
New Locations
This edition will be marked by a major reorganisation of public spaces. Usually, the multitudinous events of the festivities were held on Pesqueres square. As this space is currently in the midst of redevelopment and modernisation works, the Council has relocated the main stages.
In this way, the events with the greatest influx – such as the Presentation of the Festeros and Festeras on Tuesday, July 21st or the dance nights – will be held in the parking lot of València avenue. This logistical change has forced, in turn, to move the bullfighting enclosure, which traditionally occupied this car park. The bullfighting events will be held in the new adjoining car park, at the intersection of València avenue with the old road of Xàbia, a strategic piece of land that has recently been acquired by the Council.
It should be noted that the paper festival book, printed during the month of June with the necessary advance notice for its distribution, contains the outdated locations. On the dates of the edition, the council was confident – taking into account the relevant technical assessments – that the Pesqueres square would be provisionally available for the celebrations. Given the impossibility of its definitive use, the events have been moved to València avenue. The local government regrets this imbalance and asks residents to verify the programming through municipal digital media.
A complete programme: from Ginestà to the Correfocs
Beyond the novelties, the Magdalena Festivities will maintain their most solemn days, such as the day of the patron saint (July 22nd) with the religious events and the vertical pyrodigital mascletà of the Pirotecnia Vulcano, San Cristóbal (July 24th) with its parade of floats and the giant paella, and San Jaime (July 25th) with the departure of pilota a llargues and the presentation of the festeros and festeras of 2027.
The musical section will also be strong with the performances of Ginestà (July 23rd), the orchestras La Pato, Matrix and La Flama, the show Mágicos 80’s and the always spectacular Correfocs by the Amics de la corda de Polop on the night of July 29th.
