Like every October 9th, the day of the Valencian people, the streets of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell are filled with associationism, music and siblinghood. This year, the councillorships of Culture and Festivities, together with the different local associations, have prepared a complete and varied programme that will start on Thursday, October 8th with the afternoon organised by the Festers 2027 and will continue on Friday 9th with an intense day of activities for all audiences.
All the events will be held in the tent set at the parking lot of Valencia avenue. In addition, the tent will host the exhibition of banners around October 9th prepared by the students of CEIP Santa Maria Magdalena together with the collaboration of the AFA.
The celebration will begin on Thursday, October 8th at 8:00 p.m. with the evening of the Festers 2027. The musical day will start with the Xaranga AM Festival Xaló, followed by the performance of Quinto at 9:45 p.m., the concert of the singer from Beni Abril at 11:00 p.m. and the closing of the party at 0:00 a.m. with DJ Fran Gallego. Throughout the afternoon and evening there will be bar service with drinks and the renowned tapas of the baret dels bous.
October 9th, Valencian People’s Day
The central day of the festivity will be dedicated to the associations of the municipality. The day will start at 09:00 a.m. with the target offered by the Colla La Llebetjà. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., children’s workshops organised by the Associació de Dones and El Poble Nou Band will take place, as well as bouncy castles for the youngest ones, which will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. At 12:00 p.m. the bar service will open by the Festers 2027 and at 1:00 p.m. the Parish Choir will offer its traditional concert.
The popular meal of arròs amb fesols i nap, organised by the Festers 2027, will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tickets, priced at 10 euros, include a drink, snacks, rice dish and typical sweets. They can be purchased at the casal fester on Friday, September 25th and October 2nd, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., as well as at Aloe, Forn Mònica and K-Xuli establishments.
The afternoon will continue at 3:30 p.m. with dancing enlivened by Toni Català and organised by the Association of Retired People. At 5:15 p.m., the Morro Falquí Dance Group will offer a popular snack, and to close the festive day with a touch of fun, at 5:30 p.m. the Festers 2027 will organise the fun «Canta-Cartons».
«October 9th is a very special date that at El Poble Nou we live in the street. This festival is the best example of the associative fabric that we have, since it is the local groups themselves that are involved to offer a day full of culture, tradition and fellowship,» remarked the Councillor of Culture, Jorge Pascual.
For her part, the Councillor for Festivities, Mayte Roldán, has valued the coordinated work and the variety of the programming. «We have prepared a very varied programme for all ages, from the afternoon of the day before to the central events of the 9th. We want to especially thank the Festers 2027 and all the associations for their dedication to make this celebration a great success».
