The costumes of Asterix and Obelix, Mr. Krabs and The Cinema are proclaimed winners of San Pancracio contest of Benitatxell

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell ended its festivities in honour of the Virgin de la Rosa yesterday with an intense weekend full of fun. Despite the rain, which prevented them from going out into the street in the morning for the cucañas and the paella contest, the neighbours enjoyed San Pancracio costume parade in the afternoon.

The streets of the town were filled with humour and colour. There was laughter, funny scenes and very good vibes in one of the most deeply-rooted festivals in the municipality since it was implemented in 1951 by the ‘Quadrilla del Sarment’.

In the costumes, very worked on this year and with a high participation, there were nods to aspects of municipal current affairs. The first prize went to ‘Asterix and Obelix: Mission La Pau street’, which was a critique of the works on this street with a very elaborate staging. The second prize went to the group of ‘Mr. Krabs’, the character from the mythical cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants, and the third went to ‘El Cine’, with a recreation of a cinema with cameras, popcorn, tickets, etc. In addition, as a novelty this year, a prize was awarded for the best individual costume, which went to ‘The Secret Agent’.

The festivity ended yesterday Sunday with the bullfighting festivities of the association ACT El Portalet, which prepared a day with a popular lunch, carts for the youngest ones and a bullfighting session.
