The Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell has announced the implementation of a shock plan of surveillance and inspection to stop and eradicate uncivil behaviour associated with the uncontrolled dumping of waste on public roads. After detecting a recurring increase in infractions of the municipal ordinance of citizen coexistence, the council has decided to intensify the police presence and firmly apply the sanctioning regime, which contemplates fines of between 150 and 800 euros.
Despite the continuous information campaigns, direct warnings and installation of preventive signage in the most conflictive points of the municipality, the local authorities have found that two main behaviours continue to be repeated in an uncivil manner: the deposit of garbage bags on public roads near the litter bins, not intended for this purpose, and the uncontrolled abandonment of furniture, junk and belongings in the container areas.
To tackle this problem of incivility and public image, special surveillance and control operations will be activated that will focus on the inspection of critical areas and black spots detected in the municipality. The council recalls that tolerance for these attitudes will be null and remarks that the penalties for leaving bags outside the container start at 150 euros, reaching 800 euros for the uncontrolled dumping of belongings and furniture.
The main objective is to guarantee coexistence, health and respect for the environment and the image of the municipality, protecting the well-being of the vast majority of residents who do make responsible use of the services.
