The urban gardens of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell already have a date to start bearing their first fruits. The Council has made public the call for the assignment of the municipal plots, which will be accompanied by a complete training programme on organic farming.
People interested in having a plot of land must request their urban garden by sending an email to info@agricologia.es or by phone or WhatsApp to the 615398238. The allocation of places will be made in strict order of registration.
The first appointment of the programme will take place on September 30th at 4:00 p.m. in the urban gardens themselves (located in the Pous de l’Abiar). During the day the talk ‘Introduction to horticulture’ will be given, an ideal meeting to learn the basic notions about organic farming.
The programme will continue on October 2nd, also at 4:00 p.m. at Pous de l’Abiar, with the conference ‘Design of a family organic garden’. This practical workshop will serve as a training complement to focus on the planning, design and sustainable management of the plot.
As highlighted by the Councillor of Agriculture, Javi Cabrera, «we want urban gardens to be much more than a piece of land to cultivate; we seek to create a neighbourhood meeting point where healthy habits can be shared, learn together and promote agriculture that respects our environment.» To achieve this, Cabrera pointed out the importance of training support. «Knowing how to prepare the land and plan organic crops is key to making the project a success. We encourage all participants to join these conferences to resolve doubts and get the most out of their plots.»
With this initiative, the Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development, the promotion of healthy self-consumption and the creation of intergenerational meeting spaces in the municipality.
