Benitatxell promotes smart water management with the installation of 990 remotely managed meters

  • The Council Modernizes Supply Network with Smart Devices Connected Using LoRaWAN Technology
  • The new system will allow leaks to be detected more quickly, water consumption will be optimised and the efficiency of the municipal service will be improved

The Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell continues making progress in the modernisation of public services with the implementation of 990 remotely managed water meters, an action that will digitise supply management and move towards a more efficient, sustainable and intelligent model.

The new devices, equipped with LoRaWAN communication technology, will replace conventional meters and will allow consumption data to be transmitted remotely and periodically, eliminating manual readings and improving service accuracy. This incorporation will facilitate more efficient management of the drinking water network thanks to updated information on consumption, the rapid detection of anomalies or leaks, and the optimisation of municipal decision-making, resulting in a higher quality of service provided to citizens.

Technology for sustainable water management

The action acquires special relevance in the current context of water scarcity, as it will contribute to optimising the use of available resources and will allow greater agility to be taken in the event of any incident. The digitalisation of water supply is a key tool to move towards more responsible consumption and more sustainable water management.

«The installation of these 990 smart meters is a decisive step in the modernisation of our supply service. Thanks to digitalisation we will be able to optimise water management, detect incidents more quickly and offer a more efficient and sustainable service, adapted to the current and future needs of the municipality,» said the government team.

The project is integrated into the municipal digital transformation strategy, through the incorporation of technological solutions that improve the efficiency of public services and prepare the municipality to continue developing new applications linked to the intelligent management of the territory. This action is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.
