As every year, the elderly people of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell have their own week. The Association of Retired People and Pensioners, in collaboration with the Councillorship of the Elderly People, led by Isa Garrido, has organised, from October 12th to 18th, an extensive programme designed especially for them at the Social Centre.
The events will begin on Monday 12th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Social Centre, with a shared afternoon of bingo, assembly and chocolate. On Tuesday 13th a trip to Bocairent has been scheduled. With a price of 30 euros for members and 40 euros for non-members, the departure will be at 8:30 a.m. from the cemetery. The programme will continue on Wednesday 14th at 6:00 p.m. with the talk ‘The new old age’, by Dr. Régulo Lorente. Then, at 6:45 p.m., there will be a laughter therapy workshop given by the psychologist Sefa Mulet.
On Thursday 15th in the morning, at 10:30 a.m. at El Puig building, the Espacio Amigos group has organised a line dance session with Juan Carlos Vallés, accompanied by coffee, tea and cake. In the afternoon, at 6:30 p.m., the Social Centre will host the performance of Marta Fornali.
Looking ahead to the weekend, on Friday 16th at 9:00 p.m. an aperitif will be offered enlivened with the music of Toni Català. On Saturday 17th the ‘Theatre Night’ will take place, with the representation at 10:00 p.m. of the play ‘Donde las dan las toman’, by the Agrupació Artística de Callosa de Segura.
On Sunday 18th, as a culmination, the Day of the Elderly will arrive. At 10:30 a.m. they will leave the Social Centre to attend, at 11:00 a.m., the mass in honour of St. Joachim and St. Anne, sung by the Parish Choir. At 1:45 p.m. the bus will leave to Canor restaurant from the «Placeta Hernández», and at 2:00 p.m. the traditional fellowship meal will be held. The meal is priced at 30 euros for members and 40 euros for non-members.
