- This year, the race will be in the morning and there will be brunch service provided by the Festers 2025.
The Circuit a Peu Marina Alta returns to El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. For this eighth edition of the race in the municipality a great event has been prepared that changes the usual Saturday afternoon of recent years for Sunday morning. The details have been announced this Monday by the mayor, Miguel Angel Garcia, the councilor of Sports, Javi Cabrera, the president of Club Multiesport Benitatxell, Juan Zaragozí, along with other members of the club, and the coordinator of Sports, Celso Alcázar. At the coordination meeting the heads of Local Police and Civil Protection have also been present.
Between the children’s races and the main event, more than a thousand athletes and their families are expected to come to the town to experience this celebration of athletics. The adults’ race will start at 10:00 a.m. at València Avenue, and at 12:00 p.m. the children’s races will start.
Along with the races there will be musical accompaniment to encourage the runners in the hardest slopes with the batucada Ondarattak, the Colla La Llebetjà and the Children’s Band of the Music School of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. This year, one of the novelties is the bar with brunch service that will be set up by the Festers 2025 of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The shower service will be at the municipal football field La Font, and the changing room and bike storage will be located 140 meters from the finish line. In addition, the Club Multiesport has prepared some more surprises.
The race passes through a rural landscape of great beauty, next to the wells of l’Abiar, riuraus, fields of vineyards and the narrow and beautiful streets of the town centre. This year it has been decided to return to the old route that avoids the hard climb of Camí Abiar, thus making a little more bearable this race of the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta that has gained the name of “The Tourmalet” of La Marina to be the most demanding of all for the slopes it presents. The route is 8.1 km long and has a positive difference in height of 149 m.
“Although in this edition we have opted for a slightly less hard track, returning along the road to Teulada instead of Camí Abiar, for the runners it is still a challenge to face this leg-breaking race. Other towns design flat and fast routes to break participation records. Our race is different and has a great attraction,” said Juan Zaragozí, who took the opportunity to thank ”the Council, sponsors, Local Police, Civil Protection, Festers 2025 and, of course, all the volunteers of the club who are involved in the organization”.
Special attention will be given to the athletes of Club Multiesport Benitatxell, who will act as hosts. After the races in Xàbia, Calp, Gata de Gorgos and Teulada, they have positioned themselves in tenth place in the ranking of a total of 94 clubs. Special mention is the women’s team of the local club, positioned with very good results in third place in the ranking, very close to C.A. Publidom of Dénia and C.E. Llebeig of Xàbia. The heat and the support of playing at home will be key.
Inscriptions are open until Friday, March 21st at midday at www.somesport.com.
