El Poble Nou de Benitatxell celebrates International Children’s Rights Day once again this year. Next Sunday November 30th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the playground of CEIP Santa Maria Magdalena, the Councillorship of Childhood, in collaboration with the Local Council for Childhood and Adolescence (CLIA), has prepared a morning full of activities for the youngest ones.
The day will begin with a welcome from the authorities and the CLIA councillors, kicking off with music from the Batucada Dacatuba of the Music School. In the space set up in the school playground, there will be games, inflatables, an area for making 00 cocktails and an open stage with music and karaoke.
The main activity will be the “Workshops among equals”, an initiative created by CLIA in which the members themselves will lead these workshops. The workshop “Let’s Create Style!”, will focus on hairdressing, make-up and tattoos to express the right to identity and personal expression. In “Let’s Make Crêpes!”, they will make crêpes with the help of the Women’s Association to symbolise coexistence, learning and cooperation. And “Let’s Score Goals!” is a goal-shooting workshop in collaboration with the Base Football Club to represent the right to play, sport and fun. Admission to all activities is completely free.
‘This fair is designed so that children not only have fun and play in an inclusive and accessible environment, but also learn important values such as mutual respect and equality, and learn about their rights as children,’ said Jorge Pascual, Councillor of Childhood and Education.
In 2021, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell received recognition as a “Child-Friendly City”, a distinction awarded by UNICEF to municipalities committed to upholding the rights of children and adolescents in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
