Benitatxell is getting ready for the IX Volta a Peu this Sunday, March 22nd

  • The queen race of ‘Tourmalet de la Marina’ maintains its commitment with a morning format with a festive atmosphere from 9:30 a.m. onwards

The Circuit a Peu Marina Alta returns to El Poble Nou de Benitatxell next Sunday, March 22nd with the celebration of its ninth edition. After the success of participation in previous years, the municipality is consolidated as one of the most anticipated and demanding events in the regional athletics calendar.

The sports day will start at 09:30 a.m. with the queen test for adults, which will start and finish on Valencia avenue. For this 2026 edition, the athletes will face a distance of 9.1 kilometers, an increase compared to the previous year that will test the endurance of the participants in the already known as ‘El Tourmalet’ de la Marina.

At the end of the adults‘ race, it will be the turn of the children’s categories, thus maintaining the morning format that favours the family atmosphere and the influx of visitors to the municipality.

As is tradition, the organisation has planned a series of services and activities to make the event a real party. The Peña Taurina El Portalet will be in charge of the brunch bar to regain strength after the race. The route will have the musical support of Colla La Llebetjà, the Batucada Dacatuba from the Music School and the batucada Ondarattack to encourage the runners at the most critical points of the circuit. In addition, showers, cloakroom and bike storage services will be maintained for all those registered.

Signing up

The deadline to participate in the IX Volta a Peu is still open. Interested athletes can do it through the official website www.somesport.com with a fee of 8 euros. The deadline for formalising the registration ends on Friday, March 20th at 12:00 p.m.

The Council and Club Multiesport Benitatxell invite everyone to take to the streets to encourage local athletes, especially the women’s and men’s teams of the host club, who seek to continue climbing positions in the Circuit ranking.

«Consolidating the Volta a Peu on Sunday morning was a success that we are repeating this 2026 to encourage sport to be a party for the whole family. From the Council, we work side by side with the Local Police and Civil Protection so that the more than a thousand athletes we expect enjoy a safe environment. We want Benitatxell not only to be a sporting challenge, but a showcase of our hospitality, with the brunch service of the Peña Taurina and the musical atmosphere that is already a hallmark of our event,» said the Councillor of Sports, Javi Cabrera.

For his part, the president of the Club Multiesport Benitatxell, Juan Zaragozí, stressed that, despite maintaining the essence and demand of ‘El Tourmalet’ due to its slopes, the scenic beauty of the wells of l’Abiar and the vineyards compensates for the effort of the runners. Zaragozí is convinced that the shape of the local athletes and the support of the fans will be key to continue fighting for the places of honour in the ranking. He also took the opportunity to personally thank the work of the more than 30 collaborators of the club who «will be at the there holding the fort so that everything goes perfectly, as well as the indispensable collaboration of the members of the Local Police and Civil Protection».
