- The cultural and gastronomic festival will feature showcookings by Ferdinando Bernardi and Ausiàs Signes, wine tasting by BonAmb sommelier Pablo Català, a performance by Muixeranga of La Marina Alta and delicious tapas with broad beans from local restaurants.

Mitjafava Fest is once again the main event of the April festive calendar of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. From the 1st to the 6th, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell broad bean will be the main protagonist with a programme that will revolve around this star product of the municipality.
The week will start with the Gastronomic Broad Bean Days, scheduled from April 1st to 5th. Each day of the week, a restaurant in the town will offer a succulent dish of rice with broad beans for lunch: April 1st at Pizzeria Antiquary (966493620), April 2nd at Restaurant La Cumbre (966493213), April 4th at Ca Toni Mònica (966493636) and April 5th at La Trillaora (647606784).
Next Thursday 3rd, at 7pm, the Library will host a wine tasting with wine pairings by Pablo Catalá, sommelier of BonAmb restaurant, organised by the association of farmers Biomoscatell of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. Capacity is limited to 25 people and inscriptions can be done at https://www.inscribirme.com/o/ajuntament-del-poble-nou-de-benitatxell.
The main event will take place at the weekend, with a great festival of gastronomy and music. Next Friday 4th, from 8pm onwards, there will be a showcooking by two well-known chefs: Ferdinando Bernardi, from Casa Bernardi in Benissa (one Michelin star and one Repsol sun), and Ausiàs Signes, from Ausiàs restaurant of Pedreguer (recommended by the Michelin and Repsol guides and T de Oro de ‘Tapas’ of the Valencian Community). The event will be presented by Marina Vega, journalist and gastronomic communicator. During the event, the chefs will prepare a tapa with ‘ fava poblera’. Afterwards, a wine of honour and a free tapas tasting will be offered to all those attending. All this, with the musical accompaniment of the pianist Estela Malonda.
There will be music, tapas and much more on Saturday 5th. Throughout the day, from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 10pm, there will be a craft market and children’s attractions at Les Pesqueres square.
In the morning, the association of farmers BioMoscatell has programmed, as has become a tradition, guided tours. But this year there is a great novelty: a visit to the experimental field for the cultivation of El Poble Nou broad beans, a theoretical and practical training project to bring back this legume that is so deeply rooted in the town. Through this project, participants are learning essential techniques, from soil preparation to harvesting, thus promoting a sustainable production model. The visit to the broad bean field will take place at 11 o’clock, while the second activity, ‘ Muscatel with the 5 senses’, the route through the vineyards of the municipality with a tasting of its products, will take place at 12.30 pm. For both visits, previous inscription is required by calling at 615398238.
To round off the morning, Valencian popular culture will take the spotlight with the ‘Dansà’ by Grup de Danses Morro Falquí and Colla la Llebetjà, followed by a great performance by Muixeranga de la Marina Alta. The performances will start at midday at Les Pesqueres square.
In the afternoon the Tardeo poblero returns, with music and tapas at Les Pesqueres square. From 5 p.m. onwards there will be a children’s playroom with various activities and workshops for children; and the first of the shows, at 6 p.m., will be for children, who will be entertained by the music of Ramonets. This will be followed by an evening of music for all ages, with concerts by Sandra Monfort ( 7:40pm), Soulomonics (9:15pm), La Xe-ranga (10:30pm), Primavera Valenciana (11:10pm) and closing with DJ Trapella (1am).
Mitjafava Fest will say goodbye on Sunday April 6th with a great day with a wide variety of activities. It will start with the brunch service provided by the bullfighting peña El Portalet. As it could not be otherwise, the broad bean will be the protagonist once again with the Tapifava Festival, in which the bars and restaurants of the town will offer various dishes made with broad beans at popular prices. At midday the duo Oxigen will perform, and to finish off, at 1:30 pm the prizes will be given to the winners of the wine contest, the longest broad bean and the broad bean with the most ‘gallons’ (seeds), by BioMoscatell farmers’ association.
