El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is starting to move. The municipality’s Health Centre, in collaboration with the Council and the Conselleria de Sanidad Universal y Salud Pública (Regional Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health), is launching the “Camina Benitatxell” initiative starting this Wednesday, September 10th. This is a programme that prescribes physical activity and exercise for health purposes.
Every Wednesday, a group of walkers accompanied by staff from the centre will set off for an hour’s walk, from 9am to 10am, through the streets of the town. The route, which will start at the Health Centre (Les Pesqueres Square, 23), will be about 4 kilometres long and of low difficulty.
During the first sessions, a route has been devised that will go through the areas of Els Benitatxells and La Burreta Park, and later on, it will be adapted according to the needs and physical conditions of the group.
‘Camina Benitatxell’ is open to all residents. No formalities are required to participate; simply attend any of the weekly sessions. The objective is to promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of participants through regular, adapted exercise and to encourage healthy lifestyle habits among the population, particularly among the elderly.
Both the professionals at the Health Centre and the Councillor of Health, Isa Garrido, encourage all residents to join this group for weekly walks, which combine moderate exercise with the beauty of the town’s urban and rural surroundings.
