The festive spirit can already be felt at El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The municipality is getting ready to celebrate its fiestas in honour of the patron saint Santa María Magdalena. They will start next Thursday July 17th with the decoration of streets and balconies and the dance exhibition of the schools of Club Multiesport and the Music and Dance School. Next Friday 18th the book by Professor Wilson Ferrús Peris “Repressió ideològica, administrativa i professionals en temps de pau: el cas del Poble Nou de Benitatxell”, X Premi d’Investigació Puig Llorença, will be presented. There will also be an award ceremony for the “Un poble que escriu i viu” (A town that writes and lives) micro-story contest. Afterwards, children and young people will have a date at Les Pesqueres sqaure with a sobaquillo dinner organised by the Children’s and Adolescents’ Council and the Youth Department. There will be karaoke and a DJ, who will be available for song requests. In addition, Thursday and Friday the finals of the II Paddle Tennis Tournament will take place.
The presentation of the 2025 “L’Empeltà”, which this year has been advanced due to calendar reasons, and the performance of the orchestra La Pato next Saturday, July 19th, will unveil an intense programme with orchestras, Valencian pelota games, mascletás, giant paellas, popular dinners, children’s activities, DJ performances and bullfighting festivities, among others.
Next Sunday, July 20th, the bulls in the street will begin. In addition, there will be a sobaquillo dinner in both Mayor and La Pau streets, a monologue by Oscar Tramoyeres and a DJ. On Monday 21st, El Poble Nou will bring back the legendary night of rock concerts with a performance by Auxili, followed by DJ Plan B.
Tuesday July 22nd, the day of the patron saint Santa María Magdalena, will be the most formal day with the ringing of bells, parades, mass, aerial bombardment and procession. The patron saint’s big day will end with a large vertical fireworks display, which, since its success a few years ago, has become a regular feature of the programme. Afterwards there will be a night of dancing with the orchestra La Fiesta.
On Wednesday July 23rd, the day of Sant Roque, there will be an awakening, parade, mass, giant paella for the whole town, bullfighting, a popular dinner in the street and a performance by Toni Catalá. On Thursday 24th, Saint Christopher’s Day, will be an intense day full of activities. It will start with an awakening, parade and mass. There will also be a Road Safety activity park run by the UFEB (Benitatxell School Trainers Unit) for the youngest children. At midday, the streets will be filled with fellowship with the traditional fideuà and allioli contests with prizes of 100, 75 and 50 euros for the best fideuàs, and 50, 30 and 20 euros for the best allioli. In the afternoon, the “Canta cartons” organised by the Peña el Niu and the foam party will follow. And in the evening, there will be a parade of floats and the Falkata on Tour disco.
Children will be the stars of the show on Friday 25th with a children’s playground, while the festeros and festeras will have a parade and mass. In the afternoon there will be a game of Valencian pelota in València Avenue, and the religious events will take place that same afternoon with the solemn procession in honour of Saint James. In the evening there will be a musical show “The Time” and the festeros and festeras of the 2026 festivities will be presented. At 2am there will be a disco.
One of the most eagerly awaited days will come next Saturday July 26th with the Day of the Quintadas. In the morning there will be a wake-up call, mechanical bull, inflatables and wipe-out and, from 1pm onwards, the Quintadas will gather on La Pau Street. In the afternoon, the Monaco Party orchestra will perform,
Between Sunday July 27th and Tuesday July 29th, the bullfighting festivities and street dinners will take over the programme. On Sunday the festeros will distribute potatoes and beer on the tables, on Monday there will be “Cocà” and on Tuesday there will be coca maría and mistela. The Correfocs by the Colla de Dimonis of Mislata will put the finishing touch to the festivities on Tuesday 29th at midmidnight.
