The Councillorship of Tourism of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell reaffirms its commitment towards wellbeing and a more leisurely pace of life with the launch of the new programme of ‘Dojo Benitatxell’, a space dedicated to meditation, yoga and body awareness.
This is a monthly practice circle that is part of the strategic project “Tourism for breathing”, which was launched two summers ago and is included in the “Respira mediterrani” brand. The objective of this new space is to offer locals and visitors the necessary tools to integrate meditation into their daily routine, taking advantage of the proven benefits of these practices in reducing stress and improving physical and mental wellbeing. With this initiative, the municipality seeks to consolidate its meditation spaces as a local emblem, promoting a model of coexistence based on human and environmental respect.
The sessions, which will be taught by specialists Natalia Escudero and Carlos Ciller, are divided into two main blocks to cover the entire annual calendar. Except during the summer season, the cycle will take place on Saturdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the Dance Classroom (Pesqueres Square, 10). The scheduled dates are: February 14th, March 21st, April 11th, May 16th, September 19th, October 24th, November 21st, and December 12th.
Breate the summer
During the summer months, the activity will move to the most emblematic corners of the municipality to enjoy outdoor meditation, repeating last year’s “Breate the summer” cycle. The summer sessions will take place on Fridays at 7:30 p.m.: June 26th Breathe in Portalet, July 10th Breathe in Moraig, July 31st Breathe in Roabit, August 14th Breathe in Les Fonts and August 28th Breathe in l’Abiar.
The term “Dojo” originally comes from Zen Buddhism. It was a place dedicated to meditation. It was considered a sacred space where practitioners worked on their personal growth. Over time, the term spread to martial arts and, unlike a conventional gym, a Dojo implies respect, discipline and a quest for mental and physical perfection.
With this initiative, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell seeks to consolidate itself as a destination that cares for the well-being of its neighbours and visitors, as well as the environment, offering a space for contemplation and awareness and moving away from the idea of purely physical training to focus on total well-being through meditation and yoga.
As the goal is to ensure a quality and calm experience, places are limited. Anyone interested in participating must register in advance by emailing turisme@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.com or by telephone/WhatsApp on 645 08 17 91.
