Excellent and historic news for El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The long-awaited and necessary bypass of the CV-740 road will be a reality. The president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, has categorically guaranteed the firm commitment of the provincial institution to finance and execute a key work that will put an end to the serious mobility and road safety problems that the municipality has suffered for years.
In a recent radio interview granted to Dénia FM radio station, the provincial president has sent a resounding message of tranquillity to the citizens confirming that the institution will assume the economic effort to move forward with the infrastructure: «El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, La Marina Alta and all those who circulate on that road can rest assured: we will do it».
Pérez has acknowledged the complexity of the municipality’s road network, where, at the regional level, the intense urban growth and the density of traffic among urban masses make it urgent to make a large public investment that benefits the whole of the regional community. In addition, he explained that the first phase of this action requires an investment of 5 million euros – 25% of the annual budget of the Provincial Council in roads – and has pointed out that, once the Council finalizes the execution project and the expropriations are processed, it will be the next provincial corporation that will undertake the works.
Enormous satisfaction and giant step for the municipality
From the Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, the news has been received with enormous enthusiasm and satisfaction. In statements also to the same radi, the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, has described the words of the provincial president as a decisive step and of great importance: «We are in luck. It is excellent news for our town and for the entire region. It is the first time that we have heard the president of the Provincial Council say so clearly and publicly that the project will go ahead. The reality and seriousness of the ‘problem’ that we suffer daily is finally avowed».
This first phase of the ring road, which will act as a variant from the beginning to the middle of the section contemplated, will have an estimated cost of 5 million euros due to the orographic complexity of the land. To speed up the process as much as possible, the Consistory is making a great economic effort by assuming with its own funds the drafting of the basic project and the executive project. «At El Poble Nou we are putting everything and more on our part so that the Provincial Council can put the rest, which is what corresponds to it,» said the mayor.
Likewise, the mayor explained that the work meets all the requirements to be considered a Financially Sustainable Investment, which would allow the remainder of the Provincial Council to be used without harming its fiscal rules. With these numbers on the table, the municipal objective is that the investment can be included in the 2027-2028 budget biannually.
This great progress is the result of the insistence, determination and constant political work of the government team of Més Benitatxell, which has placed the CV-740 ring road as an absolute priority on its roadmap. Thanks to this persistence and the coordination side by side between the technicians of the two administrations and the political representatives – with a fluid dialogue with both the Deputy of Roads, Arturo Poquet, and the Deputy of Finance, María del Mar Sáez – a key project for the future of the municipality has finally been unblocked.
In this sense, Miguel Ángel García wanted to highlight the importance of the support received from the provincial area: «Although we started this political work in the previous term, what changes everything in this term is the great work and awareness of the problem by the Deputy of Roads Arturo Poquet, mayor of Benissa. Here we have a turning point because they really listen to us and clearly know the problem we have in the town and in the region,» concluded the mayor.
With the upcoming approval of the basic project, the drafting and consequent approval of the executive project by the Council and the Provincial Council, as well as the management of the land, everything will be ready for the next provincial corporation to execute an infrastructure that will forever change mobility and quality of life at El Poble Nou de Benitatxell.
