SANTA MARIA MAGDALENA 2024 FESTIVITIES PROGRAMME

THURSDAY JULY 18TH

First day of street and balcony decoration with prizes of 150€ and 75€ for the best decorations in the streets.

7.30pm. Modern dance and ballet show by Club Multiesport and batukada, ‘Bandeta juvenil’, ‘Colleta’ and students of the traditional dance groups, by El Poble Nou de Benitatxell Music and Dance School, at Pesqueres Square.

 

FRIDAY JULY 19TH

Second day of street and balcony decoration with prizes of 150€ and 75€ for the best decorations in the streets.

7.30pm Presentation of the book ‘Els noms de pobles valencians. Orígens i signifacts’ and and prize-giving ceremony of the V Micro-story Contest ‘Un poble que escriu i viu’ at the Social Centre.

SATURDAY JULY 20TH

8.30pm Afternoon of ‘Albaes’ for the festeros and festeras of 2024 with the singers by Xavi from Bétera and Marisé from Monteolivete and the poet Voro from Paterna. They Will be accompanied by Colla La Llebetjà. Departure from the casal fester and, to finish, a Little apperitif Will be offered at the same place.

11pm. ‘WE WILLL BAND YOU’, Symphonic Rock Show by Fil Music Prod. together with the group ‘Musicompunicipal Sta. Maria Magdalena of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell’.

 

SUNDAY JULY 21ST

8.15 pm. General ringing of bells.

9pm. Festeras collection by the festeros, accompanied by the Santa María Magdalena de El Poble Nou de Benitatxell Musicomunicipal Band.

10.30pm. Festeros and festeras depart from the Town Hall, accompanied by the local authorities and those from neighbouring towns, as well as representatives of the commissions from other towns accompanied by the Agrupación Musicomunicipal Santa María Magdalena of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Colla La Llebetjà.

11pm. Presentation of the festeros/as 2024 ‘La Cornetà’ on Valencia Avenue. Afterwards, ball night with La Mónaco Party orchestra at Pesqueres Square.

 

MONDAY JULY 22^ND. SANTA MARÍA MAGDALENA (SAINT MARY MAGDALENE).

8am. General bell ringing.

8.15am. Awakening in charge of the festeros and festeras.

11am. Festeras will be collected by the festeros, accompanied by the Agrupación Musicomunicipal Santa María Magdalena of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

12pm. Solemn concelebrated mass in honour of Saint Mary Magdalene sung by the Cor Parroquial (Parish Choir).

1pm. Aerial bombardment at El Portalet.

8pm. Parade of the festeros and festeras from the Casal festero to the church, accompanied by the Agrupación Musicomunicipal Santa María Magdalena.

8.30pm. Solemn procession in honour of Santa María Magdalena, San Roque and San Cristóbal in collaboration with the ‘Grup de Danses Morro Falquí’. During the procession there will be 21 ‘salves’ in honour of our patron saint and processional dances by the ‘Grup de Danses Morro Falquí’, accompanied by Colla la Llebetjà. At the end of the procession a great mascletá Pirodigital Vertical will be fired by Pirotecnia Vulcano at Les Escoles street. We encourage the spectators to go up to this street.

0.30am. Dancing night at Pesqueres Square with ‘La Pato’ orchestra.

 

TUESDAY JULY 23^RD. SAN ROQUE (SAINT ROCH).

8am.Awakening in charge of the festeros and the festeras.

11am. Collection of the festeros by the festeras (especially the festieras from previous years are invited to go out) accompanied by the charanga.

12pm Solemn mass in honour of San Roque.

1pm Balloon display at Cantonet de Bufó.

2pm. Fideuá and allioli (garlic mayonnaise) contest. The Council will provide tables and chairs until stocks last. Prizes for the best fideuás of 100, 75 and 50 euros.

Prizes for the best allioli of 60, 40 and 20 euros.

4.30 pm DISCOMÓVIL for young people and 0’0 cocktail workshop at La Pau street.

5.30pm. Foam party at Cantonet de Bufó.

0.30am RETROPOP orchestra at Pesqueres square.

 

WEDNESDAY JULY 24^TH. SAINT CHRISTOPHER.

8am. Awakening in charge of the festeros and the festeras.

11am. Collection of festeras by the festeros accompanied by the charanga.

11.30am. Road Safety activities by UFEB (Benitatxell School Trainers Unit) at La Pau street.

12pm Solemn mass in honour of Saint Christopher. At the end, blessing of vehicles in front of the Town Hall (access via La Mar street).

2pm. Giant Paella. Paella will be served on the tables along La Pau and Mayor streets. The Council will provide tables and chairs until stocks last.

5pm. HOLI Party at Valencia Avenue car parking lot.

11pm. Parade of costumes and/or carts along Alicante Avenue, La Pau Street and Mayor Street. At the end of the parade, TUMBALEA REVOLUTION Disco-mobile at Pesqueres Square.

 

THURSDAY JULY 25^TH. SAINT JAMES.

8am. Awakening in charge of the festeros and festeras.

11am – 2pm. Children’s playground at La Pau Street.

11am. Festeros pick up the festeras.

12pm. Solemn concelebrated mass in honour of Saint James the Apostle sung by the Cor Parroquial (Parish Choir).

5.30pm. Pelota game ‘a llargues’ at Valencia Avenue. Red team: Malia from Laguar, Giner from Murla, Moltó from Barxeta, Santi from Llíber and Pep from El Poble Nou. Blue team: Gaizka from Basque Country, Nacho from Beniparrell, Marrahí from Castelló de la Ribera, Pau from Sella and Dani from El Poble Nou.

8pm. Parade of the festeros and festeras from the casal festero to the Church, accompanied by the Agrupación Musicomunicipal Santa María Magdalena.

8.30pm. Solemn procession in honour of Saint James. At the end of the procession, a firework display will be set off.

11.30pm. Musical ‘Operació Homenatge’ to OT at Les Pesqueres Square with the participation of Sandra Polop.

1.30am. Presentation of the 2025 Festeros and Festeras and prize-giving ceremony for the contests held during the festivities.

2am. DJ performance.

 

FRIDAY JULY 26TH

6pm. Running of carts in the bullfighting ring.

7pm. Entrance of 6 bulls from Trinquet Street by the Benavent cattle farm.

7.30pm Bullfighting by La Paloma cattle farm at Valencia Avenue car parking lot.

10pm. Popular dinner on Mayor and La Pau streets. Festeros will distribute ‘Agua de Valencia’ among the tables.

00am. Bullfighting in the usual bullfighting ring by El Coves cattle farm.

 

SATURDAY JULY 27^TH. QUINTADAS.

8am. Awakening in charge of the festeros and festeras.

11am- 2pm. Mechanical bull, inflatables and ‘wipe out’ on La Pau street.

1pm. Concentration of Quintadas and Photocall.

6pm. Performance by La Fiesta orchestra and DJ at Les Pesqueres Square. At the end, performance by DJ Rafa Puro.

 

SUNDAY JULY 28TH

7pm. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by Els Coves cattle farm.

7.30pm. Bullfighting by the Benavent cattle ranch on Valencia Avenue.

10 pm. Popular dinner on Mayor and La Pau streets. The festeros will hand out COCA MARIA and MISTELA among the tables.

00am. Bullfighting in the usual bullring by La Hermandad cattle farm.

2am. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by Els Coves cattle farm.

 

MONDAY JULY 29TH

7pm. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by Benavent cattle farm

7.30pm. Bullfighting by Els Coves cattle farm.

10pm. Popular dinner on Mayor and La Pau streets. The festeros will hand out watermelons among the tables.

00am. Bullfighting in the usual bullfighting ring by La Paloma cattle farm.

2am. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by La Hermandad cattle farm.

 

TUESDAY JULY 30TH

7pm. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by La Paloma cattle farm.

7.30pm. Bullfighting by La Paloma cattle farm on Valencia Avenue.

10pm. Popular dinner on Mayor and La Pau streets. The festeros will hand out beer and crisps among the tables.

00am. Bullfighting in the usual bullring by La Hermandad cattle farm.

 

WEDNESDAY JULY 31ST

6pm. Running of the carts in the bullfighting ring.

7pm. Entrance of bulls from Trinquet Street by the Benavent cattle farm.

7.30pm. Bullfighting by Benavent cattle farm on Valencia Avenue.

10pm. ’COCÀ’. Popular dinner on Mayor and La Pau streets. The festeros will be handing out ‘cocas’ among the tables.

00am CORREFOCS by Colla de Dimonis of Mislata.

 

END OF FESTIVITIES.

 

-The festeros/as have the right to change or modify any of the events announced in this programme.

-Everything distributed by the festeros/as will only be given out along the tables in the streets, while stocks last.

-Only authorised people with CRE accreditation will be able to participate in the awakenings.

-It is strictly forbidden for children under 16 years old to enter the bullfighting ring, according to the current regulations.

-The setting up of the stands will take place on the July 23rd (whole day) and July 24th (only in the morning). Dismantling will take place on August 1st and 2nd.

-Those wishing to take part in the street decoration contest must inform the festeros/as.
