Benitatxell cemetery opens a new lifting machine for All Saints’ Day

  • The municipal cemetery will have extended opening hours on October 30th and 31st and November 1st, as well as atmospheric music to mourn the deceased on November 1st.

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell’s Council is putting the finishing touches to the municipal cemetery for the All Saints’ Day celebrations. One of the main improvements this year is the purchase of a new lifting machine to access the graves, as the old one had become obsolete and did not comply with safety measures. In addition, a small storeroom has been built for storage.

Over the last few weeks, the municipal services have been carrying out maintenance, rehabilitation, painting and gardening work, including the improvement of the lighting with the change to LED lighting, the installation of two new solar LED streetlights and various repairs to the paving.

On October 30th and 31st and November 1st, the site will have extended opening hours from 7.30 am to 8.00 pm. As every year, there will be a series of police officers on the busiest days to regulate traffic, provide surveillance and information. There will also be speed limits and more parking spaces for people with reduced mobility.

Music for All Saints Day

After the successful experience of the last three years, in which the neighbours have welcomed the musical atmosphere in the cemetery, this year the initiative will be repeated. Thus, on November 1st, All Saints’ Day, a string duet of the chamber group Marinae Ensemble will play live music from at 11:30am onwards to commemorate this solemn celebration for all the deceased.
