Benitatxell ‘lights up’ Christmas with a musical by Gisela, ‘El monstre Petorro’, a multi-adventure simulator and lots more activities.

  • On Friday December 6th, at 6.30pm, the streets will be lit up with a ‘Christmas switch on’ to welcome the magical season.
  • The legendary Christmas Market will arrive on Sunday December 22nd with an important new feature: its relocation to the Pesqueres square.

El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is getting ready to welcome the magic of Christmas in a very special, open and participatory way. The Councillorship of Festivities has prepared an intense Christmas programme with activities designed for the whole family, especially for the youngest members of the family.

The starting shot will be fired on Friday December 6th with the Christmas ‘switch on’. From 6:30 p.m. onwards, the Christmas fairy will go around the town accompanied by the Colleta of the Music School. At the Oratorio square, the Christmas tree will be inaugurated; the Christmas lights will illuminate the Town Hall, and on Llebeig street, with the Christmas carols of the Parish Choir and the Children’s Choir, the inauguration of the Nativity Scene by local artist Salvador Ginestar will be inaugurated, which will incorporate new spaces and pieces.

Next week there will be a concert by the Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir on Wednesday 11th, and the programme will start to get into gear on Saturday 21st with the screening of short films for children and young people ‘El dia més curt’, where popcorn will be offered.

The legendary Christmas Market will arrive on Sunday December 22nd with an important novelty: its relocation to Pesqueres square. The event will feature a batucada, Christmas stands selling food, decorations, craft products, etc., a family circus, the visit of the endearing ‘burreta de Nadal (Christmas donkey)’, a Christmas symbol of the town, and the novelty this year of the wine tent with live music organised by the festeros and festeras of 2025. The market will be open to the public from 10am until 2pm.

On Monday 23rd the Santa Maria Magdalena school gymnasium will host the afternoon Gaming X Sport, with Play Station, Nintendo, Virtual Reality and Hockey games, while on Tuesday 24th, Christmas Eve, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell will once again open the doors of Santa Claus’ house. The town will welcome the illustrious character to spread magic and warm the hearts of the people of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. There will be fun with children’s workshops, a visit to Santa Claus’ house, a snapshot photography service and a Christmas atmosphere with the Music Band. At midnight, the traditional Midnight Mass will be celebrated at the church.

From December 26th onwards there will be activities for the youngest ones in the tent of the Pesqueres square, such as the virtual reality simulator ‘Vagón multiaventura’ and the planetarium (Thursday 26th), the comedy show with juggling and unicycle ‘Mi maleta y yo’ (Friday 27th), the musical and storytelling show by Paco Cholbi ‘El monstre Petorro’ (Saturday 28th), the concert of Valencian Christmas songs by Urbàlia Rurana (Sunday 29th) or the Christmas park with inflatables, face painting, balloon twisting, workshops, etc. (Monday 30th).

For the fourth year in a row, and given its success every year, the New Year’s Concert by the chamber orchestra Marinae Ensemble will be held on Wednesday January 1st. It will take place at 6pm at Santa Maria Magdalena church.

The new year will bring more activities to the tent at Pesqueres square. On Thursday 2nd, family public will enjoy the musical ‘Una historia encantada’ with Gisela, contestant of the first edition of Operación Triunfo.

The announcement of the arrival of the Three Wise Men and the collection of letters will thrill the youngest children on Friday January 3rd. At 6:00 p.m., the messenger of their Majesties is scheduled to arrive at the Jaime Llobell Oratory to collect all the letters that the children may have written. He will be accompanied by Colla La Llebetjà and Grup de Danses Morro Falquí. In addition, there will be chocolate and bambas at popular prices provided by the Women’s Association. After that, the tent will host at 7.30 pm the presentation of the documentary ‘De la llata al plàstic’, the first project of ‘La llar del record’ for the retrieval of the oral memory of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

On Saturday 4th ‘El roscó’ race organised by the Club Multiesport Benitatxell will take place. It will start at 5:30 pm at Pesqueres square with a race for children, and at 6:00 pm it will be the turn of the adults. There will be prizes for the best group and individual costume and a small snack for the participants.

Finally, Sunday January 5th will be one of the most special days of the year for the children of the municipality. From 6pm onwards, the Three Wise Men will arrive at the Town Hall, where they will greet all the residents and then go to Les Pesqueres square to hand out the presents they are so excitedly awaiting. The Three Wise Men mass on Monday 6th, at 6pm at the church, will bring the festivities to a final end with the Christmas greeting to the Niño (‘child’) and the return of the Three Wise Men to the East.
